So often we look outside ourselves.
This can often include asking for others’ opinions and/or watching for others’ reactions to what we say and do.
Sometimes in our looking outside ourselves, we can even go to extremes— like changing our own viewpoints to please others or not standing up for what we believe in due to fear of rejection.

What we need is not in other people, unhealthy food, or harmful substances.
Want to know what it is? Look in the mirror.
We have everything we need. We just may not know it yet. It comes with practice, there’s no doubt about that.
It starts with real self-esteem or self-love, whatever you’d like to call it. And whether we need to go within about our personal lives or about our businesses, deep inside we know what we need.
This isn’t to say that we don’t ever need to see our doctor or therapist, or that we don’t need a business coach.
The difference is that when we look to others to fill a need we have, that can be co-dependent. And when that happens, nobody wins.

I am more myself at 70 than I have ever been. I wish I had done it sooner!
I know what you mean Barb. It’s funny when we say that we wish we had done it sooner. Who knows why we don’t? Maybe we’re meant to learn at a certain pace, like some kind of divine timing. When I am tempted to let my ego tell me I had wasted time, I try to remember that.
The Bhagavad Gita and Sufi Saints guide us to look within for answers and I wish we could trust ourselves and our Higher Self instead of looking outward and wasting good energy.
Yes! We need to look within and trust ourselves more. I look forward to teaching more about this in the weeks to come. The Bhagavad Gita and the Sufi saints have much wisdom to share with us all, and their writings are so beautiful. Thanks for that reminder Vatsala, time to re-read those!
Good reminder to look in the mirror and appreciate our inward knowings. Thanks for sharing your pearls of wisdom!
Thank you for commenting! We each have inner wisdom; if we can just tap into it more regularly we could make life flow more easily!
I love the reminder here to look within. Often in the hustle of life we do forget that all that we need is truly within. Thank you!
Thanks for your comment and for sharing my blog post on Twitter Zeenat! I agree, in the hustle of life we can really forget that. It’s so easy to look outwardly for everything, yet if we do, we can really lose our way.
